Known Limitations

Reserved Project Names

The following project names are reserved and cannot be used:

• docs — reserved for internal routing
• api — reserved for API endpoints
• health — reserved for health checks
• s — reserved for share links

If you get This project name is reserved, choose a different project name.

Watcher Conflicts

The global watcher (slop watch --global) cannot watch the same directory from two different projects. If a source path is a subdirectory of another project's source path, you'll get a conflict error:

Error: Project tenant/project has conflicting watchers:
  • /path/to/dir watched by other-project (PID 12345)

Fix: Move the nested source to a separate directory and use a symlink in the original location if you need it in the repo.

Example:

# Problem: ~/Projects/slop/demo-docs/ is inside ~/Projects/slop/ (already watched)
mv ~/Projects/slop/demo-docs ~/Projects/slopdrop-docs
ln -s ~/Projects/slopdrop-docs ~/Projects/slop/demo-docs

# Update ~/.slop/global.yaml to point to ~/Projects/slopdrop-docs

Path Character Restrictions

File paths containing @ are rejected by the API (e.g. node_modules/@scope/package). Add /node_modules/ to your ignore patterns.

Other invalid characters: paths must be alphanumeric with -, _, /, and . only.
